Former rogue FBI Agent Ted Otto is viewed as one of the most corrupt FBI Agents in the Bureau’s history not just by a plethora of reputed New York organized crime figures, and their defense attorneys, but by many federal law enforcement officials who interacted with him before he retired. In late 2014, he leaked a copy of John Gotti Jr.’s FBI 302 memo, documenting his 2005 proffer session where he provided information to the federal government, to his close friend, government witness John Alite.
Otto leaked the document to Alite so he could use it as a weapon against Gotti, to make Alite and his then upcoming book more credible, and to possibly get Gotti hurt and or killed by alleged organized crime figures who would view him as an informant after reading in the memo how he provided information to the FBI and Federal Prosecutors against accused high ranking Italian mobsters.
